Brittany as many other french areas has been through a very rich history. Signs in the old stone-build houses or churches gives a marvellous acount of what that period has been. But may be more than elsewhere, Brittany claims its specificities through its traditions and its attachment to the past. The Historical "Cornwall castel" route
Following this road through Cornwall you'll discover many magnificient castles from many epochs sprinkled in Brittany as Karezan castle, Keriolet or Guilguiffin.
Breton village has got character
Through the entire Finistere discover small villages or towns deeply rooted in the breton history. Le Faou is the old post-house between "Le bas Leon" and "La Haute Cornouaille". The Brest harbour has to be visited because of its wooden-front houses,its Saint Sauveur church or the Quelen quay.
Locronan is a celtic religious center. You can still feel the holy atmosphere today and admire the magnificient facades of the "Grande Place" and of the priory church.
Pont-Croix is a bridge of the Goyen that worth the detour because of its collegiate church Notre-Dame-De-Roscudon, the Ursulines convent or the ancient haven.
Painters village, Pont-Aven is only 35km far from L'Orangerie de Lanniron. That small and charming city has been painted by Gauguin or Emile bernard, and described by Flaubert or Chateaubriant. As well as the museum which is dedicated to the painting school of Pont-Aven, it's a place where it s good to take time, to hang about in one of the many gardens that makes Pont-Aven so flowered.
Charming little harbour
Turned to the sea the Breton shore is sprinkled by tiny charming harbours very good places for daydreaming while looking at the boats leaving the shore.
Sainte Marine is two steps away from Bénodet. It s a beautiful peninsula bathed in serenity.Its small harbour is colored by old fishing boats and is dominated by a chapel.
22 km far from the campsite, Tudy Island is not an island anymore since the 19th century but a peninsula. It still got its island charm with its small footpath well flowered. At the far west of Crozon's peninsula is the superbe Camaret Harbour fortified by Vauban. At any time that place has inspired many painters. Take time to admire the sunset and then you'll understand why.
Concarneau
That small city built on a rocky island is surrounded by high ramparts and has also been fortified by Vauban. Behind those high walls you'll meet with the city history just by walking in the small paths. From the top of the fortifications you have an absolute wonderful point of view on the sea and the city.
The 1500sq meters fishing museum is also a good way to discor that area and it s way of life. But there, you also go fishing around the world and learn about the different fishing techniques..
